Olympics and Entrepreneurship Projects in Grupo Academia Internacional Boquete, Chiriqui

As you might know from our previous articles, at Grupo Academia Internacional, we prepare our students for life after high school through our "learning by doing" methodology and a wide range of extracurricular activities in which students can participate in Olympiads and Entrepreneurial Projects every year.

We are beyond excited for our students participating in the national Mathematics and Astrophysics Olympiads, as well as Entrepreneurship SENACYT projects this 2023.

Competition is a valuable experience for all students as it allows them to explore their potential, enhance their building and analytical thinking skills, and intensify their knowledge in STEAM education.

If you are still deciding if you should enroll your student in a bilingual school that also provides these types of active learning, we invite you to keep reading this article.

This year, three of our elementary students and one of our senior students from AIB won medals in the Panamanian Mathematics Olympiads. Watch the video and learn more about their experience.

Astrophysics Olympics at Grupo Academia

Participating in the Astrophysics Olympiads aims to introduce early high school students to the marvels of the Cosmos and promote their knowledge of Astronomy and Astrophysics. More benefits include:

  • Astronomy is the study of everything: Astronomy can help them learn about the world around them and better understand the universe. It can also foster a love for learning, which will benefit them throughout their lives.

  • Stimulates your child's mind: Astronomy can help your child develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Astronomy is a great way to interest your child in science and nature. It can be a fun and rewarding experience for both of you.

  • It can be a bonding experience: sharing the night sky with your child can be a bonding experience. It can be a time for you to relax and enjoy each other's company. You can also use it as an opportunity to teach your child about the world around them. Additionally, it can be a time for you to create lasting memories together.

  • It can be a creative hobby for your child: Astronomy can be an excellent way to express their creativity. They can use their imagination to create stories about the stars and planets. Additionally, they can use their creativity to make solar system models. Space and the earth is an excellent way for your child to have fun and be creative.

Every year, the OLIPACE, Latin American Olympics of Astronomy and Astronautics, opens their enrollment for students to participate in their competition; this year, there were a total of 347 students participating in the national level.

We are excited to announce that five AIB seniors participated, and one was selected among the 35 chosen finalists group. Marcos Sequera, 12th grade, will receive training with national and international experts in teaching astronomy. Watch the video and learn more about his experience.

Astrophotography Contest at Grupo Academia

Teaching children about outer space nurtures their natural sense of curiosity and wonder. Many children are fascinated by the vastness of the universe, and introducing conversations about things like the planets and solar system will engage and nurture their inquisitive minds.

Recently, SENACYT and Ciudad del Saber carried out the VI edition of the Panamanian Olympiad of Space Sciences, with 153 participants.

This event seeks to highlight the beauty of the Universe and its impact on our lives. The quality and originality of his photographs were impressive, and they also serve as an inspiration to continue promoting Astronomy and Space Sciences in our country.

This year, Jimmy Lin León Zhong student from AIB won second place.

Chess Olympics at Grupo Academia

Chess enhances the ability of students to interact with their peers.  It also tests their sportsmanship in a competitive environment. More benefits include:

  • Chess improves school work and grades. Numerous studies have proven that kids obtain a higher reading level, math level, and a more extraordinary learning ability overall as a result of playing chess. For all the reasons mentioned above, chess-playing kids do better at school and therefore have a better chance to succeed in life.

  • Chess is fun!!  This strategic game isn't just another one of those board games. No chess game ever repeats itself, meaning students create more new ideas with each game.  It never gets boring.

This year we had two students from AIB participate in the Regional Chess Olympics, sponsored by Pandeportes. Our student Diego de Las Casas from AIB won fifth place.

Every year, SENACYT opens its enrollment for students to participate in Entrepreneurship-financed Projects.

This year, we are excited to announce that two senior groups from AIB participated and were selected for the finalist groups.
